ATTENTION APPALACHIAN UTILITIES CUSTOMERS

Appalachian Utilities is scheduling a valve replacement, on Short Street in the Avis Borough, for January 27, 2018.  This project will require a portion of the water system to be depressurized for several hours.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection requires a “BOIL WATER ADVISORY” when a portion of the distribution system is depressurized.

Therefore, a BOIL WATER ADVISORY will go into effect for the following areas on January 27, 2018 at 9:00 A.M.

Customers in the Avis Borough and portions of Pine Creek Township east and north of the Avis Borough should boil water for at least 1 full minute before using for cooking or consumption during this boil advisory.

CUSTOMER INFORMATION NOTICE:

May 18, 2020

A message for customers in the Avis and Pine Creek areas, please be patient with our distribution system flushing work that is currently underway.

This is very important maintenance work that we perform each spring to maintain the distribution system and also to flush dead end lines to improve water quality.

We are moving through the Avis area at this time and you may experience low water pressure and possibly some discoloration over the next week to 10 days.

A message for our customers in the Sagamore Hills development, we are currently planning to replace a fire hydrant the week of May 18th, this work will begin at 8:00 am and you may have low or no water pressure for several hours.  The President of the homeowners association will be notified prior to the start of this work, as much early notification as possible will be given.  We are currently waiting for special order parts to arrive to finish the work schedule.

Thank you for your patience with this water system work and have a great spring day.

Please call us with any questions, 570-769-7647.

Appalachian Spring 2023 flushing will begin May 30th and continue for an estimated 4 weeks or until full completion.
When we are working in your area you may experience intermittent pressure loss and/or slightly turbid water from time to time.
Thank you very much for your patience with this important annual maintenance of the community water distribution system.
